No Brown in Town

The English have a funny old saying when it comes to shoes: No Brown in Town.

Basically, it means that the only acceptable colour for work or dress shoes is black.

Now...while this might be a bit out of date, a good black shoe is still a simple and fashionable choice for everyday work wear.

Every man should have a pair of classic black leather shoes in their wardrobe.

A plain front black leather derby is always a safe choice. Look for a full-grain leather and a soft, round toe shape. A versatile rubber sole will make your morning commute far more comfortable and infinitely more versatile in inclement winter weather.

And if you are dead set on brown – the same rules apply – just tell everyone you are Italian.
